Everybody's Got One
A blog. An opinion. An elimination orifice. A dream. An agenda. A past. A hidden talent. A conceptual filter. A cross. A charism (often the same). A task. A wound. A destiny. A lost love. A blind spot. A bad habit. A secret. A passion. A soul ... okay, maybe not everybody ...

On the road from Roanoke to Knoxville I was dumbfounded outside Abingdon by an Orthodox icon of Jesus on the side of the expressway (where some miles earlier I had seen deer cutting quickly across open ground.) No advertisement, no announcement of services, just Peace. Be Still below two fingers raised in blessing and then quickly past. I didn't expect hesychasts in Southwestern Virginia – but then you never expect to see them. Sometimes, you see the traces, the effects they leave on the world – more often you rush past and don't.
What a remarkable grace.
