An interesting report on NPR this morning, about the necessity for American planning to prevent reprisals after the fall of Saddam. Featured voice was one of the exiles currently appearing out of the woodwork (now a lawyer in Indianapolis, but doubtless willing to return if handed enough power) recounting how very many present members of the Iraqi power structure are (justly) at risk of being torn limb from limb by a liberated populace. Oh, the horror! The potential – as opposed to ongoing – bloodbath! Unspoken was the message that it will be All America's Fault if these brutes are insufficiently protected.

After all, it was NPR.
