In one of those striking convergences, the gospel read for the feast of St. Katherine Drexel is the rich young man – one of my least favorite passages because, like Anthony, I have a sneaking suspicion it is aimed directly at me.

Nice to have that fiery arrow deflected, for once, by the example of a rich white girl who did exactly that. (I suspect that the Drexel of Drexel-Burnham is her family.) And consider: a hundred and twenty years ago, $7,000,000 was serious money.
