Alax Taborrok at Marginal Revolution has a couple of interesting posts on product placement and advertising in theaters, which reminds me of the strangest thing I have seen in a while: commercials featuring the Cat in the Hat and/or Suesssian couplets. MasterCard has one; so does Pepsi, for both Sierra Mist and Stackers chips. This isn't a simple promotional tie-in or the product placement we've grown used to - it's movie character placement in a television commercial.
Mighty strange.
